Fremont visit

January 16th, 2008

I just returned from a visit we had with a church in Fremont, and it was a great time! We were able to sing some songs, play some games and give a presentation of the camp. the best part was playing games with the students and making balloon animals and shapes for them. As I was making swords and shields I had hem read from Ephesians 6 where Paul talks about the armor of God; the sword of the spirit and the shield of faith, Good times!

Octaball

December 8th, 2007

We went to another camp to visit and saw this great game called Octaball.  It is Dodge ball meets handball! It is played in a octagon shaped arena where you hit the ball with your hands off the walls or at other opponents from the knees down. It is a great game to involve lots of people. I have also designed a logo to go along with it.

Garfield Thanksgiving

November 20th, 2007

We had our first Annual Garfield Thanksgiving here at the Sellers household. It was a great feast with everything that Garfield would love to eat like, Lasagna, garlic bread, veggies with lots of ranch dressing and root beer floats for desert!

Fall Fun

November 15th, 2007

Kristi and the kids went back to Indiana to have some fall fun. Click here to view some of the fun. I also helped out with the Scrap booking retreat and made a couple of pages.

Fall is here

October 25th, 2007

Some think here at camp that things really slow down after summer season and we get to relax and take a break, but like most things it is not always as it seems. In the last few weeks we have had about 2000 guests come through camp. It all started with two Ladies retreats (800 guests), Seniors Retreat (40 guests), two Jr. High Exiled retreats (350 guests) a college age retreat (500 guests) and the MARBC Conference (170 guest) plus the various groups who have done single day events. It is amazing to see the amount of people that Lake Ann Camp touches. I am humbled and thankful to be a part of what God is doing in this place! Life is still hectic for the family and we, like everyone else are struggling to make family time a priority. The kids are doing well and Kristi and I are tring to be creative with the time we have together.

I had a great time last Sunday night with the youth group at Immanuel Baptist Church where we have been attending. I was asked to come speak during their Missionary Conference since I am working out at Camp this year. I spoke about thinking of our lives as a back pack and what things are we filling it with? School, cars, friends, video games, music, sports, concerts, and yeah church and God.

When I was younger I was just like that, I would take things out of my backpack for a time and then out them back. I would even pull God out of my backpack and thank him for his love for me and his forgiveness and then I would hear the rumble of a car go by and then put God back in my backpack and chase something else for a while. God doesn’t want to just be a part of our lives he wants to be our lives! Our life needs to be built around him. We need to figuratively dump out our backpack, give it to God and follow him. He will then let us fill the backpack with things that honor and glorify him.

What is in your backpack?

The Summer is gone!

September 9th, 2007

Wow I cannot believe the summer is gone! It was a great summer, but it didn’t last long enough. I love being at camp and working with kids. It was the most fulfilling thing I have done in a while. We had almost 500 campers through my program and almost 4,ooo campers through all programs this summer. Now we are gearing up for the fall season that has already begun. We have school groups coming in through the week and retreats on the week-ends. My boss has a great quote “Camp is chaotic”. I agree, but I love it also.

Summer is half gone

July 14th, 2007

I can’t believe that the summer is half over already! We have had 5 weeks of camp so far! We have had close to 300 campers in Jump start so far this sumer. Jump Start is th the program I am the director of where we do many outdoor activities like river walks, hikes at the dunes, exploring a bog, and tube floats down the Plate river. Along with all the other fun things at camp like; swimming, fishing, boating, cooking out over a fire, games and chapel. I am speaking seven times a week and enjoying every minute of it! My family is adjusting to camp life quite well. We are living in a fifth wheel camper and a pop-up for the boys, it is very cozy!
